What is Maitrī?
Maitrī (मैत्री) /m-uh-y-t-r-ee/ or in American English simply /my-tree/, is loving-kindness toward the self, which radiates out to others.
When we learn to truly love and accept ourselves, only then can we begin to truly love and accept others.
Other common translations may include acceptance, kindness, friendliness, benevolence, amity, good will, and/or active interest toward self and others that is unconditional, courageous, and/or generous.
Maitrī is a concept we can apply to all we do.
